The British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) is a charitable organisation that works to facilitate the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge in the field of antimicrobial chemotherapy. The Society pursues its aims by setting standards for antimicrobial susceptibility testing and use, both within the UK and overseas, supporting microbiologists in their practice, and promoting and providing channels through which its members can ensure their continuing professional development.
The Society provides Education Grants to support research projects and initiatives of benefit to the field of antimicrobial chemotherapy as follows:
•Innovative developments aimed at improving any aspect of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the UK (including development of novel teaching programmes, web-based educational tools, etc).
•Development/delivery of initiatives that promote awareness and increase public understanding about antibiotics and antibiotic usage (including pilot initiatives).
•Development and assessment of educational interventions that aim to: ◦Reduce inappropriate/increase appropriate prescribing of antimicrobial agents.
◦Create, stimulate, improve multidisciplinary learning opportunities for those responsible for management and use of antimicrobial agents.
◦Improve understanding and attitudes among health professionals and/or public towards antibiotic usage.
Applications are invited from researchers based internationally/worldwide working in relevant fields.
