These grants are available to fund work other than primary research, under the following categories:
•core costs/staffing grants;
•small grants under £10,000.
Applications should be in the fields of care and environment of older people and/or the delivery of solutions addressing disability, disease and frailty related to ageing.
These awards are available to UK clinicians and scientists for testing the relevance of new and unconventional ideas in order to obtain a proof of concept. The idea to be tested should be novel and serendipitous in nature, but evidence of its validity must be demonstrated.
Awards will have a value between £10,000 to £50,000 per annum and will be awarded for a period of up to 18 months, although in exceptional cases an extension of up to three years maximum may be possible.
Serendipity awards may be in any area of medicine/medical science/health.
